CAPSTONE
TAM 4480
This apparel product development capstone project integrates design, production, and presentation
techniques at an advanced level. There is an emphasis placed on attaining a professional level of quality in all
aspects of the product development process, including market and trend research, line development,
pattern and sample development, and final sample.

Working with a partner we were assigned to research and develop a seasonal line for a specified target market that was assigned to us. The final presentation included a research board, working journal, final sketches, technical designs, 6 muslin sample looks, and 3 final design looks ready for production.
Throughout the process we needed to research and understand:
concepts of product development relative to cost, aesthetics, produceability and market needs
evaluate and select appropriate raw materials for an apparel line within cost limitations
demonstrate professional technical production decision-making, including development of specifications, garment size and fit, seam and stitch selection, order of operations, and quality assurance
use effective visual and oral communication when presenting concept boards, technical designs, portfolio and final collections
most importantly work and communicate successfully both individually and within a team environment
